Immigrant Breast Nest‘s mastermind Speak Onion, hugely revered here at Grindthieves headquarters, is back again with a sack full of sonic onslaught artillery to be released at the end of the month entitled “Swallower”. We don’t want to give too much away – but for those who have been following along with Grindthieves’ telling & sharing of Immigrant Breast Nest and Speak Onion, “Swallower” shows growth in the overall structural framework for his material while simultaneously packing a  more fierce punch than his previous efforts. Four tracks that don’t dip below the 5 minute mark and, at their most elongated, extend beyond 10 minutes, let’s just say that strength is not in numbers when it comes to how many tunes are on the release but in perseverance when it comes to enduring each of them in their entirety. Punishing and relentless, forward thinking and fine tuned, “Swallower” is 4 tracks of Speak Onion’s signature drum’n'noise on steroids and crack at the same time. A true effort of increasing enjoyment with repeated listens, all adventurous IDM, breakcore, noise, and experimental music fans will want to keep their ear to the ground as February winds down in anticipation of Speak Onion’s newest album.

Grindthieves is proud to debut the video for the first single from “Swallower” entitled “Wakeless”, a video crafted by current Speak Onion visual collaborator Bruzed – a gifted sound sculptor in his own right, in addition to being hugely talented in the visual realms. The video is an exercise in visualizing sound, abstract and expressive, it grows and expands upon itself to create something the eye can hear. Organic and circular visuals at the songs more subdued and mellow moments, exploding into a combination of fractal-esque seizures and geometric gangbangs at its most complex, layered, and cerebral. The track itself is littered with unbelievably hyper sliced and spliced breaks, finely grated bass notes, and a liberal drizzling of leftfield melodic atmosphere which is then sprinkled with vocal samples that sound as though they were thrown through an industrial fan on its highest setting and scraped off the wall on the other side. Together, this audio-visual combo will prove to be simply too much for the uninitiated. For those of you into more challenging and complex textures on their listening palate, this will likely be the coolest 7 minutes you spend in front of a computer this year.

Without further ado, Speak Oninon’s “Wakeless” video premiere…
