I’ve known Mark Lancaster for the better part of fifteen years now. I can confidently say that he is, in large part, responsible for the path I’ve taken when it comes to my musical enjoyment. Over the years, whenever I came upon a new sound or genre, he was right there nudging me in the direction of awesomeness.
With this mix he showcases an ability to create a picture in the mind with a bunch of seemingly disparate sounds and styles which, among other things, reside well below the radar of… well, just about anything. Defying categorization with selection and defying logic with assembly - at first sight of material included, anyhow, though once listening it all makes sense - this is one of those mixes that you either love or hate for any number of reasons.
I can’t begin to place it anywhere stylistically, outside of his own personal tagline of “experimental ambient noise”, so I won’t even bother trying. I’ll just hope upon hopes that this is a tasty enough delight for all of you out there in readerland to forgive my minimal updates and entries around these parts as of late.
