More about the Grindthieves contributors…
dckr aka The Artbreaker aka Joshua Decker. Sometimes I make music, I always am listening to it. I’ll want to punch myself as soon as the words are typed, but I like all kinds of music. The catch? Only good shit of all the varieties. That’s fact. Over 20 years paying attention to and involvement in both the metal and hip hop scenes, over 15 years paying attention to and involvement in the rave/dance culture, almost 10 years writing fucked up breakbeat music, lifelong visual artist, 20 or so years in the graffiti and street art world, about a decade time put in on the graphic design front.
Grindthieves started out as a collective of, at the time, likeminded jungle/drum’n'bass and, generally, dance music DJs and producers. In the nearly 10 years since its inception it has seen many changes and many faces, disappearing entirely for a period, too. In it’s current incarnation and as I see it now, a platform with which I intend to share and learn about the things I love while networking with likeminded bloggers, producers, DJs, promoters, and listeners.
unsoundbwoy aka Garth Sheridan has been kicking about grindthieves for some five years now, since artbreaker’s remix of OG appeared on the Minneapolis EP. Since then he has released tracks, remixes and podcasts on many incarnations and associations of Grindthieves and has been actively posting on the blog since 2009.
Outside of Grindthieves unsoundbwoy dabbles in production of many kinds of bass heavy music, mixes and records band music, obsessively collects music, djs and runs parties with 3re and foundation stepper as part of croakinglizard and is an ethnomusicologist completing a PhD at RMIT University.
Doppleganger is a San Francisco transplant who was born and raised in the nether reaches of Wisco. His love for electronic music was bred in the waning days of the Furthur parties in the early 2000s and it was carried on through the ongoing hardcore barn parties that followed. With an early appreciation for IDM through the likes of Doormouse and Venetian Snares and a fond understanding of quality jungle through Danny Tha Wildchild and Phantom45, his future explorations into electronic music would be well-guided. Over the next decade he sought music that further redefined his understanding of what music can and should be, and has now found himself in a position where he seeks the best, boldest, and most unique music that the world has to offer. Far from accomplishing that goal, Doppleganger has only begun that journey, and it has led him to Grindthieves, the premier place for all of the aforementioned.
